Frequently asked questions

How much seed does the Mega PestOff hold?

The Mega PestOff holds up to 8 lbs of birdseed — an enormous capacity that minimizes refills and keeps birds fed for far longer than standard feeders.

How does the Mega PestOff stop squirrels?

Patented spring-loaded feeding ports close the moment a larger animal lands, dual squirrel-proof baffles block access, and an anti-squirrel ring stops squirrels from clinging to the feeder. Ports reopen automatically for songbirds.

How far from a wall or tree does it need to hang?

Hang it at least 18 inches away from any vertical surface — wall, fence, post, or trunk — so squirrels cannot cling alongside and reach across to the feeder. Roamwild's hanging brackets and the PestOff Bird Feeding Station are designed to give exactly this clearance.

What is the iridescent finish?

The Mega PestOff has an exclusive iridescent paint finish that reflects sunlight in a display of shifting colors, making it a striking centerpiece for any yard.

Do I need to adjust or calibrate anything?

No — the spring-loaded ports work automatically with no complicated settings or adjustments.

Is it weatherproof?

Yes — an integrated rain guard keeps the seed dry and fresh in all weather.

How do I clean it?

It is simple to clean and refill, with no tools required.

How does the Mega compare to the other Roamwild squirrel proof feeders?

The Mega is the biggest of the range — 8 lbs of seed versus 4 lbs for the PestOff 2.0 and 3 lbs for the standard PestOff — so it suits busy yards where feeders empty fast. All three use the same patented weight-activated spring-loaded ports that close on squirrels and reopen for songbirds.

It is the best squirrel-proof feeder I have found. However, I have think relying on the two plastic tabs to hold the top to the bottom is a weak point. A determined raccoon, for example, can break the unit. I also find that the birds prefer the older style perches over the single bar on the newest feeder I bought. My bears, of course, are another issue altogether.

This is one awesome feeder. Squirrels hate it. I love it!

You claim that larger birds cannot feed. I am currently looking at blue jays, crows and wood peckers eating my feed. So, not so impressed based on your promises.

Love the feeder! But the box was damaged. The small suction cup feeder was missing but the squirrel cage was in the box.. could I possibly get another plastic arch piece?

None of my birds will use this. They love the squirrel proof tube feeders but hate this one. And it’s an expensive feeder too. A huge waste of my money.
