Why you might need it

PestOff ports close under the weight of a squirrel or large bird, but a European starling weighs only about 2 to 3.6 oz, close to the port threshold, so starlings can sometimes feed. In the United States the European starling is an introduced species and is not protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. The cage adds a physical barrier that ends the problem. Feeding sunflower hearts instead of mixes with suet or dried mealworms also makes the feeder far less attractive to starlings.

Super squirrel cage!

I am loving this protector! My only problem is that my feeder is wider in circumference but i still used it! I was able to connect the bottom and the top part i wired it together! (It comes as halves that you crew together over your feeder) I need to get longer screws for the top part since i need a wider circumference lol. No more refilling each day! No deers or squirrels have gulped down the seeds before the birds got them! And the birds go in and out just fine! Love it! Saving me money too!

Very good sturdy bird feeder. I use hot pepper seed which is expensive. I ordered the cage to keep larger birds out and it works great. I also have noticed much less seed being flung out which is also greatly appreciated. Will definitely buy from Roamwild again. As a matter of fact I’m eyeing their new larger capacity feeder.
