How does the PestOff 2.0 stop squirrels?
Three defenses work together. Each feeding port sits on its own spring and closes the moment a squirrel or large bird lands on its perch; dual stainless steel baffles block access from above and below; and a smooth anti-squirrel ring gives squirrels nothing to cling to. The ports reopen automatically for songbirds.
How far from a wall or tree does it need to hang?
Hang it at least 18 inches away from any vertical surface (wall, fence, post or trunk) and at least 5 feet off the ground, so squirrels cannot reach across from a foothold or jump onto it. Roamwild's hanging brackets and the PestOff Bird Feeding Station are designed to give exactly this clearance.
Do I need to adjust or calibrate the feeder?
No. The PestOff 2.0 ports are factory-set and respond to weight automatically. There is no spring tension to adjust, unlike single-spring feeders.
How much seed does the PestOff 2.0 hold?
It holds up to 4 lb of birdseed, which means far fewer refills than standard feeders.
Will the PestOff 2.0 rust outdoors?
The tube is polycarbonate and cannot rust; the baffles and perches are stainless steel. In coastal salt air, rinse the metal parts monthly. If a metal part rusts on a recent purchase away from the coast, contact info@roam-wild.com for a replacement part.
Do I have to take the feeder apart to refill it?
No. Open the lid and pour seed in through the wide mouth. No tools and no disassembly are needed for everyday refills.
What seed should I use?
Sunflower hearts, black oil sunflower seed, safflower or a general mixed seed. Sunflower hearts attract the widest range of songbirds and spill least. Seed is not included.
What colors does the PestOff 2.0 come in?

How big is it and what comes in the box?
The feeder body is 21 inches tall and 7.5 inches wide, about 26 inches tall hung on its steel cable, and weighs 1.5 lb empty. The box contains the PestOff 2.0 feeder, the steel hanging cable and a quick-start guide. Seed is not included.
Will cardinals or blue jays close the ports?
The ports are set so songbirds keep feeding. A northern cardinal weighs about 1.5 to 1.7 oz and a blue jay 2.5 to 3.5 oz, far below an eastern gray squirrel at 14 to 21 oz. BWD Magazine's test found the PestOff lets cardinals and red-bellied woodpeckers feed while excluding grackles, mourning doves and squirrels. If a port closes under a cardinal, check that the feeder hangs freely and the perch is not resting on anything, then email a photo to info@roam-wild.com.
Why does the PestOff 2.0 have only two ports?
Because each port has its own spring, a squirrel on one perch closes only that port and the bird on the other keeps eating. Feeders that hang six ports on one spring close every port at once. Two birds feed at a time; for a busy yard, hang two feeders 18 inches apart or choose the 8 lb Mega PestOff.
How is the PestOff 2.0 different from the other Roamwild squirrel proof feeders?
The 2.0 holds up to 4 lb of seed, more than the original PestOff's 3 lb, and adds dual squirrel-proof baffles plus an anti-squirrel ring on top of the spring-loaded ports. It comes in seven finishes. If you need maximum capacity, the Mega PestOff holds 8 lb. Dedicated 2.0 versions take peanuts and mealworms, or nyjer/thistle seed. All Roamwild PestOff feeders use the same patented weight-activated ports.

Most weight-activated feeders hang all their ports on a single spring: when a squirrel lands, every port closes, and the tension has to be adjusted by hand. The PestOff 2.0 gives each of its two ports its own patented spring, so only the loaded port closes and there is nothing to calibrate. The trade-off: two birds feed at once instead of six.
