Every feeding port is individually spring-loaded, so when a squirrel or any animal heavier than a songbird lands, the port closes instantly and blocks the seed. The tube is riot-shield-grade polycarbonate with heavy-duty metal baffles — no squirrel has chewed through it.
How far from a wall or tree does it need to hang?
Hang it at least 18 inches away from any vertical surface — wall, fence, post, or trunk — so squirrels cannot cling alongside and reach across to the feeder. Roamwild's hanging brackets and the PestOff Bird Feeding Station are designed to give exactly this clearance.
Does the PestOff feeder keep rats and large birds away too?
Yes. The same weight-activated ports that stop squirrels also shut out rats, pigeons, crows, and other large birds, so only songbirds can feed.
